For this project, students were asked to design a magazine or redesign an existing magazine. My design was inspired by Essence Magazine, a magazine catered to African-American women. Essence magazine focuses on celebrity topics, beauty, and lifestyle. This magazine is titled Radiance, a fictional magazine company specifically created to celebrate African-American celebrities.
This magazine features two feature articles. "Angela Bassett: 39 Years in Hollywood" and "Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman: Redefining a Timeless Icon." Radiance magazine also offers a spread of celebrities in a department page. The featured celebrities are as follows: Halle Bailey, Keke Palmer, Zendaya, and Jurnee Smollett. The second department page features actress Lupita Nyong'o.
Lastly, the cover of Radiance showcases Angela Bassett with the table of contents staring Zendaya.
